From not making the team to Surrey Development Camp - how Josh showed resilience and won through...

Updated: Jan 19, 2021

It all started at my first Hockey session at School in year 5. I was eager to make the School Team and represent our School at the Merton Borough

Hockey Tournament. Sadly, I didn’t get in, but I was offered a place at Merton Hockey Club. I was overjoyed with excitement, but my journey didn’t end there. It was now the Summer term, and at school I was given the opportunity to go to the Quick Start Hockey Tournament. It was great, we came second! And as an individual, I won a Hockey Stick, got to meet some professional players and a chance to play for Wimbledon! And amazingly enough, I went to a Surrey Hockey development camp.

After that I started playing for Wimbledon Boys U12s and was fortunate to be offered a sports scholarship for Trinity School in Croydon, where I’m looking forward to continuing my hockey journey.

Thank you so much to all the Hockey coaches for making this possible.
